Funding Announcement Press Release Templates

Announce a seed round, growth round, strategic investment, grant, or crowdfunding milestone with the numbers, investors, and use-of-funds reporters ask for first.

Funding stories follow a strict formula: how much, from whom, at what stage, and what the money buys. Get those four facts into the first two paragraphs and the rest of the release is yours to tell the company's story — traction, market, and what happens next.

The five templates below cover the fundraising spectrum from first check to non-dilutive grant. Each includes an investor quote slot — the single most requested element in funding coverage — and a use-of-funds paragraph.

Use one of these templates when…

  • You've closed a priced equity round (pre-seed through Series C and beyond)
  • A strategic or corporate investor has taken a stake
  • You've been awarded a grant or other non-dilutive funding
  • A crowdfunding campaign hit its goal or a notable milestone

Seed Round

First institutional capital — the problem, the early traction, and the believers.

Series A/B Growth Round

A scale story — proven metrics, marquee lead, and an expansion plan with dates.

Strategic / Corporate Investment

When the investor is the story — a corporate partner whose backing signals a market shift.

Grant / Non-Dilutive Funding

For public, foundation, or research funding — the mission, the selection, and what gets built.

Crowdfunding Milestone

For campaigns that hit goal or blew past it — community numbers, momentum, and delivery dates.

Writing tips for funding announcement releases

  • 1State the amount and the lead investor in the headline or first sentence — it's the story's spine.
  • 2Use of funds beats vision: "hiring 20 engineers and entering the EU market" outperforms "accelerating our mission".
  • 3Include one traction number the average reader can grasp (customers, revenue growth, users) — rounds without traction read as hype.
  • 4Get the investor quote early in your drafting process; investors' comms teams can take days to approve wording.
  • 5Total raised to date is a useful secondary stat when the new round alone is modest.

Frequently asked questions

Do we have to disclose the exact amount raised?

No, but coverage odds drop sharply without a number. If the exact figure is sensitive, a rounded one ("a $4M seed round") or a range keeps the story concrete while preserving some privacy.

Should the valuation be included?

Usually not, unless you're late-stage and the valuation itself is the news. Early-stage releases that trumpet valuations tend to age badly and invite skeptical coverage.

Who should be quoted?

Two voices: the CEO on what the company will do with the capital, and the lead investor on why they wrote the check. The investor quote signals external validation — don't skip it.

When should we announce relative to closing?

After the money is wired, not at signing. Many companies wait weeks and pair the announcement with a product launch or milestone so the story is "momentum", not just "money".
